I’ve Finished Genevieve’s Gift

I don’t know how many of you who receive my newsletter also receive my Facebook posts, so please forgive me if you have already responded to another request in a different medium.

The good news I wanted to share is I have completed the initial draft of Genevieve’s Gift, Book 1 in my Moonlight Memories series. It is now out with my reviewers for their comments, edits and feedback. Once I receive that back and incorporate it into the revised version I will need to prepare two formatted versions, one for the Kindle (e-book) and one for the CreateSpace (printed) versions.

It will probably be March or April before Genevieve’s Gift is finally ready for public release. In addition to the time invested in actually writing the book, it really does take a fair amount of time after the book is written for the rest of the preparation to occur.

I honestly cannot say enough about how much my reviewers contribute to my books. While it is my name that goes on the cover, it truly is a collaborative effort and their feedback greatly improves my writing and makes my books much more enjoyable for readers.

Susan has prepared covers for both the CreateSpace (printed) and Kindle (e-book) versions. I really like what she has done. For the printed version she wrapped the moon around onto the back portion of the cover.

For the Kindle version, she prepared two iterations. In one, the moon is cropped off (similar to how it looks on the front of the printed version) and in the other she reduced the size of the moon so the entire moon is showing. Both are attached here.

I’d really appreciate it if you could reply to this newsletter and let me know which of the two Kindle versions you prefer as we have divided opinions. Since you are part of my target market, your opinion matters a great deal to me.

Just in case you are interested, the picture of the moon is one Susan took from our apartment here in Cuenca, Ecuador. The picture of the bear she took in Valdez, Alaska when we were there in 2006. Insofar as possible, we are trying to create covers that use our own pictures and Susan’s considerable Photoshop skills.

If you would be interested in receiving an advance complimentary copy of Genevieve’s Gift to read in exchange for posting an honest review on Amazon when it goes public, please reply to this newsletter and let me know. I’m trying to line up as many reviews as possible prior to launching the book.

I know I’m asking a lot of questions in this edition of the newsletter, but I really am interested in what you have to say. Currently, I produce both printed and e-book versions of my novels. I am considering also producing audio versions. Susan absolutely loves audio books. I think I’ve only listened to one in my life and I much prefer to read a book than listen to it.

  1. Do you listen to audio books?

  2. Do you think it would be worth the time, effort and expense for me to produce audio versions of my books?

  3. Are audio books something you periodically buy and listen to?

From what I’ve been able to glean, having audio versions in addition to printed and e-books, adds significantly to an author’s credibility. And, of course, I’m trying to establish my credentials as an author.

I’ll close with a brief teaser about my next book in the Moonlight Series. It will be called Healing Hayley. For the first time, I will be collaborating with another person on writing a book. I’m going to be working with my oldest daughter Sherilyn. Some of you may know that Sherry is a 14-year cancer survivor, and a part of this story will describe the heroic battle she has fought with this dreaded disease. I think the writing of Healing Hayley will be a cathartic experience for both of us.

As always, thank you very much for your support and caring. You have no idea how much it means to me personally.
